You train your speed.
Your strength.
Your endurance.
Your power
Your Mindset.
You push yourself to improve every day.
But there’s one thing behind all of it that most athletes don’t think about enough…
Your heart.
Your heart is your engine.
It’s what allows you to go harder, recover faster, and perform at your best when it matters most.
A strong, well-conditioned heart means:
But here’s the part most athletes overlook…
Your heart health is being built right now.
Not later. Not after your career.
Right now, with the choices you make every single day.
A lot of athletes are doing things that feel like they help… but actually work against them over time.
Things like:
Energy drinks, in particular, are everywhere in sports. They promise energy. Focus. An edge. And yeah… they might give you a quick boost.
But that boost comes with:
That’s not real performance. That’s short-term output with long-term consequences. It's hype. And Its frankly a naive belief in marketing vs knowledge in real science. (If your'e interested in the disturbing science of energy drink damage to cardiac muscle dm me!)
If you want to perform at a high level, your body needs real fuel.
Not shortcuts.
That means focusing on:
And just as important…
Start paying attention to what you’re limiting:
You don’t have to be perfect. But you do have to be consistent. Because what you do most of the time is what drives your results.
Right now, you’re focused on your sport. Your season. Your goals. Your next level.
But zoom out for a second. The habits you build today don’t just impact your performance now.
They shape your long-term health. Heart disease doesn’t happen overnight. It builds over time. And the choices you make now can either help prevent it… or move you closer to it.
This topic is personal for me.
I’ve seen firsthand what happens when heart health is ignored. And I’ve also seen how much more we know now than we used to. We have better information. Better understanding. Better tools.
So the question is…
Are you using them?
I wrote a more in-depth article about this. I shared my personal story, what we now understand about heart health, and how to actually take care of your body for long-term performance and longevity.
